Plural

Below is what we ended up sending to our GP, NHS Grampian, Nuffield Brighton, our MSP and a few others… Each getting added contextual information. How the hell this came about, we are several days later, still unclear. Nobody will give us a straight reason at this time. For now, we try to hold it together, fight on. Try to seek answers to stop our future treatment failing again or being prejudiced based on them thinking we must have done something to deserve this....

So how do we communicate between us? Well, that’s an interesting question. We have read about other systems, and interacted with a few. From which we can tell there is quite a bit of diversity in terms of both communication between systems and the presence/lack/shape of any shared internal space. We have what we have termed segmented memory. (There are probably better terms, but this is what we coined early on before reading others experiences and it stuck....

Our initial attempt to describe our understanding of switching Some of this language feels odd, as we have switched structures since, using we primarily to describe ourselves, and only dropping to singular I when needed to illustrate that it is just one of use we are referring to. It’s a little fluid still, and confusion verbally can occur especially when we have to distinguish between we as in the group of people we are referring to externally and We as our internal group....

It’s, as we write this, one of those days. Busy. In a busy week. There a few interactions planned today, unavoidable… Which reminds us that we need to get some time for our artist1. Partly, because we lack “balance” if we do not all get time. Partly because it’s a piece based on our phrase “too many eyeballs”. As in, we are exhausted physically/mentally/emotionally because there are too many damn eyeballs observing us....

One sigil for the system, surrounded by one for each of us. We are a plural system. Five personalities, one body. I’m our Analyst, I model the social world, make forward predictions. I make us look normal to the outside world. Therefore I am a data/research/information junkie. Our Navigator, she is our naturalist. Forager, wanderer, she is into biodiversity, ecology, spirituality. (Non-verbal) Our Engineer, well she’s a natural hacker. Non-verbal, but she programs, fixes engines, builds stuff, extremely resourceful....
